The communicative skills for this lesson include the following:
- Requesting:
Pozivam te/Vas na [noun phrase, Accusative]: Pozivam te/Vas na ručak 'I am inviting you for lunch';
Želiš li/Želite li [noun phrase]: Želiš li/Želite li sok 'Would you like some juice';
Accepting: Sa zadovoljstvom! 'With pleasure', Rado! 'Gladly', Da,
hvala 'Yes, thanks.'
Declining: Ne, hvala 'No, thanks', Nažalost, ne
mogu! 'Unfortunately, I cannot'.
- Issuing commands:
[verb, Imperative] Zatvori vrata 'Cloose the door'; [verb, Imperative],
molim te/Vas Zatvori vrata, molim te 'Cloose the door, please'.
- Asking about and indicating directions:
Gd(j)e je [noun phrase]: Gd(j)e je pošta? 'Were is the post office?';
Idite [adverb]: Idite pravo/l(ij)evo, desno 'Go straight ahead/left/right'; [Number, ordinal]
ulica [adverb]: Prva ulica lijevo/desno 'First street on the left/right';
Iza/ispred [noun, Genitive] ispred banke 'In front of the
bank'.
- Expressing satisfaction and dissatisfaction:
To mi se sviđa/dopada 'I like that'; Sviđa mi se [noun phrase, nominative]:
Sviđa mi se ta haljina 'I like that dress'; To mi se ne sviđa/dopada 'I do not like that';
Ne sviđa mi se [noun phrase, nominative]: Ne sviđa mi se ta haljina 'I do not like that
dress'.
